Jacksonville Tournament

Games 27 through 30 were played in Jacksonville, FL at the Jax River City MyHockey Tournament. It was a long way to go to only play Raleigh teams, but it was an excellent outcome, beating the Jr Canes AA Black team in the championship!

All games were played at the Community First Igloo in Jacksonville, which is a great facility.

Game 1 – Canes Black

Friday, Dec 6 at 4:20pm – Won 2-0

This was a hard fought game, and we worked hard to set the tone early and put them on their heels. Messages were for Defense to play the body – be patient and let the opponent skate into you. Wings – must skate hard for 30 seconds, aggressively forechecking the puck and forcing errors.

It was surprisingly even in terms of stats:

While shot attemps were even, there were some important differences in shot quality:

Most of the Canes’ shots were center mass, where our boys seemed to be looking for low shots.

Game 2 – Canes White

Saturday, Dec 7 at 12:10pm – Won 5-0

Game 3 – Queen City Royals

Saturday, Dec 7 at 8:40pm – Won 5-0

Championship – Canes Black

Sunday, Dec 8 at 3:40pm – Won 4-2

Despite an early error, the boys put pressure on the Canes all game to match Canes goals and then go ahead! Excellent puck control and effort from all players.
