Center
- Try to win the faceoff back to defense
- Win or lose, move to the high slot
- If they win the puck and we are able to push the puck carrier behind the net, move to help your winger engage
Outside Wing
- When puck is dropped, explode forward. Imagine the other team won the faceoff, and you’re chasing the puck
- If we won it, head for the net to tip or rebound a shot
- If we lost it, go after the puck
- If you can get the puck, quickly move it to front of the net
- If the other team gets the puck, try to get it, but stay on one side to force your opponent to move behind the net
- If you can stay with your opponent and harass him, do, but if not, retreat towards the high slot to either be an option or to backcheck!
Inside Wing
- When puck is dropped, explode forward to the front of the net
- if we won it, get ready to tip or rebound a shot
- If we lost it, stay in front of the net until you see that your teammate has pushed the puck carrier behind the net – go to the wall and try to cut him off.
- If he gets past you, backcheck!
Outside D
- If we win and it comes to you, you have two options:
- If the Inside D is open and you can successfully pass, do so – he will then take a shot
- If the partner pass isn’t an option, do you have a clear line to shoot on the goalie? If so, shoot low and quickly.
- If you don’t have a clear line to shoot, send the puck forward into the corner off of the wall for the outside wing to pick up
Inside D
- If we win and it comes to you, walk the puck a few steps and shoot low at the net
- If we win it back to your partner, he will be looking to pass to you. While he’s doing that, take a look to make sure it’s clear for him to pass – if not, yell “NO”
